1st Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Volleyball Tournament kicks off with grandeur in Gangtok

The Chief Minister’s Gold Cup is being held as a marquee event under the broader umbrella of the Discover Rabong Cho-Dzo Fest 2025.

In a vibrant celebration of sports and youth empowerment, the 1st Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Open Volleyball Tournament was officially launched at MG Marg, Gangtok. The grand event was graced by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay, accompanied by Krishna Rai, who attended as the Chief Guest. Their presence added ceremonial splendour to what promises to be a landmark sporting occasion in Sikkim.

The launch event saw an impressive gathering of dignitaries, including Speaker Mingma Norbu Sherpa, Deputy Speaker Raj Kumari Thapa, and a host of state ministers and MLAs such as Ven Sonam Lama, Tshering T. Bhutia, Nar Bahadur Dahal, Puran Gurung, Sanjeet Kharel, Erung Tenzing Lepcha, Suresh Kumar Limboo and Aditya Golay, among others.

The Chief Minister’s Gold Cup is being held as a marquee event under the broader umbrella of the Discover Rabong Cho-Dzo Fest 2025. Scheduled from April 11 to 16 at Ravangla, the tournament is being organized in collaboration with the State Tourism & Civil Aviation Department and spearheaded by Hon’ble MLA Shri Rikshel Bhutia.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized the transformative role of sports in building discipline, teamwork, and community spirit. He reiterated his government's commitment to nurturing young talent and providing inclusive platforms for athletes to showcase their potential. "Sports not only strengthen bodies but also strengthen societies," he stated, urging participants to compete with passion, integrity, and a sense of unity.

The Chief Minister also extended his warm invitation to the people of Sikkim and beyond to experience the cultural vibrancy and festive charm of the Discover Rabong Cho-Dzo Fest 2025 in Rabong.
