Advocate Tashi Rabten Barfungpa has been elected uncontested as the President of the Bar Association of Sikkim (High Court & Subordinate Courts). His election ensures that he will serve a term of three years, marking a significant step in the leadership of the association.
In addition to Barfungpa's election, several key positions within the association were also filled unopposed, reflecting a strong sense of unity and consensus. Tsewang Namgyal was appointed as General Secretary, while Amit Rai and Pradeep Sharma secured the positions of Assistant General Secretary-I and Assistant General Secretary-II, respectively. Pema Ongchu Bhutia was elected Treasurer, with Passang Tshering Bhutia serving as Assistant Treasurer. The post of Library Secretary was filled by Sushant Subba, and Pramit Chhetri, Marina Rai, and Tashi Doma Sherpa were elected as Executive Members.
While these posts were filled uncontested, the election for the remaining contested positions will take place on May 5, 2025.
