In a momentous event to raise awareness for environmental conservation, the "Run for Khachoedpalri Lake" was successfully organized, marking the recent designation of Khachoedpalri Lake as Sikkim’s first Ramsar Site. Revered as a holy and wish-fulfilling lake, Khachoedpalri holds profound spiritual and ecological significance for the people of Sikkim and beyond.

The event brought together a diverse group of participants, including community members, environmentalists, and nature enthusiasts, all united by a common goal: to raise awareness for conservation efforts, promote ecotourism, and safeguard the future of this sacred lake. The event also highlighted the importance of preserving the natural heritage of Sikkim, which is home to numerous environmental treasures.

Area MLA and Minister Tshering T. Bhutia presented a cheque to Shri Sonam Yongda Bhutia, President of Khachoedpalri Lake Preservation Society (KPSS), in the presence of Range Officer Tenzing W. Bhutia, Skm Clc Yangthang President Shri Tashi Wangyal Bhutia, Marathon Men Amar Subba, and members of the organizing committee. Bhutia extended his best wishes for the initiative, acknowledging the crucial role that the community plays in preserving such natural landmarks.
