Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Monday attended the second edition of the Sikkim Kalakar Bharosa Sammelan at Town Hall, Namchi. The event was organized to honor the state's artists and recognize their contributions to Sikkim's cultural heritage.

Speaking at the event, CM Tamang described artists as the "jewels and ambassadors" of Sikkim, highlighting their role in preserving and promoting the state's rich traditions. He emphasized that the Sammelan was not just a celebration of artistic excellence but also an acknowledgment of the dedication and struggles of artists.

As a part of the initiative, financial assistance under the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Grant (CMDG) was distributed to several artists. The support was extended to both individual artists and those running academies to nurture young talent in different art forms. CM Tamang stated that the assistance aims to provide financial security and encouragement to ensure artists receive the recognition and support they deserve.

In a key announcement, the Chief Minister said that the Sikkim Art, Culture & Heritage Development Board would soon become fully functional. The board will work towards the welfare of artists by providing opportunities, platforms, and resources to help them grow in their respective fields.

Congratulating the awardees and emerging talents, CM Tamang encouraged them to continue their artistic pursuits with passion. He also expressed gratitude to guest artists for their performances, which added vibrancy to the event. Moreover, he praised the organizing committee for successfully hosting a program that not only celebrated art but also reinforced the importance of supporting the artistic community in Sikkim.
