The Education Department, Government of Sikkim, launched a comprehensive programme today to distribute essential study materials to students across 227 government schools in Namchi district on the first day of school reopening.

The distribution event in Namchi was attended by Chief Education Officer Suraj Rai, NMC Councillor Pem Norbu Bhutia, SMC Chairperson S.J. Lepcha, along with principals, teachers, non-teaching staff, and students.

As part of its commitment to improving education, the State Government is providing free textbooks, exercise copies, shoes, socks, and school uniforms to all government school students. The initiative aligns with the government's broader efforts to enhance student progress, achievements, and overall academic performance through curriculum development and quality education.

Officials said that the timely distribution of educational materials is a significant step towards fostering an inclusive and equitable education system.
