The SKM Student’s Wing convened its monthly meeting today at Hotel Chowtara, Deorali, Gangtok, under the leadership of its President, Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha. The meeting was marked by vibrant discussions on future programs and initiatives aimed at fostering student welfare and participation. The delegation later met Shri Arun Upreti, Secretary General and Hon’ble Minister, to brief him on the outcomes of the discussions.
At the outset, the Student’s Wing extended New Year greetings to the people of Sikkim, emphasizing their commitment to contributing to a “Sunaulo, Samriddha, and Samarth Sikkim.”
As part of the 50th anniversary of Sikkim’s statehood, the Sikkim Art and Literature Festival is set to return with renewed vigor in 2025. Under the guidance of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), the festival, which has been a resounding success in the past, aims to bring together students, scholars, authors, and artists. This event promises to serve as a creative and intellectual platform, celebrating Sikkim’s rich cultural heritage.
The SKM Student’s Wing also highlighted its plans for the second edition of the Student’s Assembly, which was first introduced in 2023 under the Chief Minister’s leadership. This initiative, which allows students from across Sikkim to voice their ideas and concerns, will be a significant feature of this year’s celebrations.
Another key highlight is the launch of the Sikkim Student’s Sphere (S3), a student-driven podcast aimed at amplifying youth voices. The logo and hosts are currently being finalized, with the podcast set to be inaugurated by the Chief Minister later this year.
Moreover, a meet-and-greet session for the newly elected Student Representative Council (SRC) members is planned once colleges reopen. This interactive program will provide a platform for the SRC members to share their perspectives, fostering collaboration with the Student’s Wing.
